I think that the vast majority of python developers aren't as concerned about performance, they know python (at least the standard CPython implementation) is slow and they mostly accept the trade off of slow performance in favor of easy development experience.

As to the bench mark, it's not very clear how did they make the comparisons, what code did they run?

And it's also weird that they only compare the standard CPython and Jython while completely disregarding the more "performance oriented" versions of python like PYPY, pyston or RUST-python.
